No. 20/24 Track & Field preview: 2026 NCAA Outdoor Championships

Men’s competition begins Wednesday, while the women open action Thursday at Hayward Field.
AUSTIN, Texas – No. 20/24 Texas Track & Field closes the 2026 season this week at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Ore. with the No. 20 men competing Wednesday and Friday and the No. 24 women taking the track Thursday and Saturday at Hayward Field.

NOTES
- Kendrick Smallwood enters the NCAA Championships after producing a world-leading and Texas-record 13.04 in the 110-meter hurdles at the NCAA West Prelims. The performance won his quarterfinal race, moved him to No. 5 on the all-time collegiate performers list and lowered his school record. He holds the 17 fastest performances in program history.
- Kody Blackwood secured his fourth NCAA Outdoor Championships appearance by winning his 400-meter hurdles quarterfinal heat at the NCAA West Preliminaries in 49.09, the second-fastest time of the evening. At the SEC Championships in Auburn, he ran a facility-record 48.26 to win the SEC title and moved to No. 2 on the Texas all-time performer list.
- Amelliah Birdow heads to Eugene after posting the fastest 400-meter hurdles time at the NCAA West Prelims, winning her quarterfinal heat in 54.95. The SEC Women's Outdoor Newcomer Runner of the Year enters the national meet ranked No. 3 nationally and owns the third-fastest performer in UT history with a time of 54.79 that was secured at the SEC Championships.
- Chris Brinkley Jr. earned a qualifier for the NCAA Outdoor Championships after running a personal-best 49.56 in the 400-meter hurdles quarterfinals at the NCAA West Prelims. The mark moved him to No. 8 on the Texas all-time performer list.
- Bayleigh Minor qualified for her first NCAA Outdoor Championships after running a career-best 51.12 to finish second in her quarterfinal heat at the NCAA West Prelims.
- Carleta Bernard advanced to Eugene by winning her 100-meter quarterfinal heat in a season-best wind-aided 11.01 at the NCAA West Preliminary Round.
- Anouk Krause-Jentsch secured her NCAA Championships berth by finishing second in her NCAA Prelims 400-meter hurdles quarterfinal heat with a time of 56.59.
- Kelsey Daniel qualified for the NCAA Championships in the triple jump after placing sixth at the NCAA West Prelims with a mark of 16.57m (54-4.50). At the SEC Championships, he recorded a personal-best 16.64m (54-7.25) to move to No. 4 on the Texas all-time performer list.
- Giavonna Meeks advanced to the NCAA Championships in the hammer throw after qualifying with a mark of 64.53m (211-8) to finish eighth in the competition. At the SEC Championships, she set the Texas school record with a throw of 68.23m (223-10) and owns the top 22 marks in program history.
- Jeanne Le Goff qualified for her first NCAA Outdoor Championships after placing seventh in the triple jump with a mark of 13.56m (44-6) on her opening attempt.
- Osawese Agbonkonkon earned an NCAA Outdoor Championships berth after tying his career best with a clearance of 2.17m (7-1.50) to finish 10th in the high jump at the NCAA Prelims.
- Tabea Eitel secured her NCAA Championships berth in the heptathlon with a career-best performance at the Texas Relays, where she scored 5,648 points as the top collegiate finisher. The mark ranks her as the third-best performer in Texas history.
- Texas also qualified all four relay squads for the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
