Athletes from across the country are headed to Austin and Mike A. Myers Stadium next week.
AUSTIN, Texas – The 93rd Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays and Meet Director James Barr released the initial list of qualifiers for next week's meet on Wednesday. The Texas Relays begin on Thursday, March 25, and run through Saturday, March 27, at Mike A. Myers Stadium.
It was announced in February that this year's Relays will be held on an abbreviated schedule and, due to a combination of challenges, not included high school teams or individual student-athletes. The traditional four-day meet will be reduced to three days with events in the University, College and Invitational Divisions. Longhorn Network will once again broadcast extensive coverage of this year's meet.
The 2021 Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays get underway with the collegiate decathlon and heptathlon on Thursday, March 25. Thursday's action will highlight field events, sprints and the Distance Carnival to close out the night. The distance portion of Day One will consist of the 1,500 meters, 5,000 meters, 10,000 meters, 3,000-meter steeplechase and the Jerry Thompson Mile.
Friday's schedule is led off by the second day of multis competition in the decathlon and heptathlon at Myers Stadium, followed by a slew of field events and then a sprints circuit in the afternoon and early evening. The sprints session will include the 100-meter dash, hurdles competition, 4x100-meter relay and 4x400-meter relays in the University/College division.
Saturday's schedule begins with field competition in the discus at 10 a.m., and continues all throughout Myers Stadium during the day. The 2021 Texas Relays are scheduled to conclude with the Sanya Richards-Ross and Cleburne Price Jr. 4x400-meter relays in the evening.
