No. 24 Women’s Golf finishes runner-up at Mountain View Collegiate

The Longhorns finished second at 18-under par as a team this week.
TUCSON, Ariz. – The No. 24 Texas Women's golf team fell just two stroke shy of posting back-to-back wins in Arizona, placing second at the Mountain View Collegiate on Sunday. The Longhorns finished the tournament 18-under par, two shots back of winners Oklahoma State.
Four Longhorns registered top-10 individual finishes, and all five were in the top 20 after three rounds at the The Preserve Golf Club.
Agathe Laisne was the low Longhorn, finishing in solo sixth at 4-under par. Laisne capped her tournament with a 2-under 70 on Sunday, anchored by four birdies to two bogies. The French international opened and closed her scorecard with bogies in the final round, posting a 5 at No. 1 and No. 18, but was clean in-between those two squares on the card.
After an opening-round 73, Sophie Guo responded over the past two days with back-to-back rounds under par – the only Longhorn to do so over the weekend. She followed up Saturday's 3-under 69 with a 1-under 71 to get to 3-under par overall for the tournament and finished in a tie for seventh.
Kaitlyn Papp and Ashley Park tied for ninth place at 2-under par. Back-to-back double bogies on the 16th and 17th holes doomed Papp's late run toward a top-five finish, while Park steadied the ship after four bogies in her first seven holes to shoot just 1-over on Saturday.
Sara Kouskova, the individual medalist at last week's Wildcat Invitational, finished tied for 16th at 1-over par this week. Kouskova got off to a blazing start Saturday, draining three birdies in her first four holes, but couldn't keep the momentum going as she finished with a 2-over 74 in the final round.
The Longhorns return to action at The Bruzzy on March 29-30 in Dallas, Texas later this month. Live results will be available throughout the tournament on Golfstat.com.
