WACO, Texas – On Wednesday night at Betty Lou Mays Field, freshman midfielder Lexi Missimo scored a brace (two goals), junior midfielder Julia Grosso and senior forward Haley Berg each tallied goals and senior goalkeeper Savannah Madden made a career-high 12 saves as Texas soccer (7-5-0) blanked Baylor (4-5-3), 4-0.

The Details
With winds blowing steadily at 25 mph and gusting as high as 40 mph, both teams needed a little time to settle in with the conditions. It was Baylor that created the first statistical chance as Mackenzie Anthony fired a shot from 16 yards that Madden stopped outside the left post at 5:09.
Cameron Brooks got UT on the board shot-wise at the 9:25 mark as the junior forward dribbled in from the left edge of the 18-yard box and fired a shot that was deflected away by BU keeper Jennifer Wandt.
Texas broke in front at 14:17 as Grosso and Berg teamed up to make it 1-0. Grosso controlled a ball inside the box, turned and located Berg with a pass. The Celina, Texas, finished quickly from 15 yards out for her fourth goal of the season.
Missimo nearly made it 2-0 for the Longhorns at 15:20, but her effort from just a step inside the top of the 18 drifted just over the top left corner.
The Burnt Orange & White came desperately close to another in the 16th minute as a cross from the left wing found junior midfielder Carlee Allen racing in near the right post. Unfortunately, her leaping header while marked drifted just outside of the woodwork.
After helping on the first goal, Grosso managed to score her fifth of the season at 23:31. The Vancouver, British Columbia, native did it all herself, driving up the left side past a couple of Baylor defenders before firing a left-footed, eight-yard effort past Wandt to make it 2-0.
Despite facing a developing 1-v-1 situation at 29:22, Madden kept the zero on the scoreboard by diving straight down to corral a 16-yard effort from Baylor's Taylor Moon.
The woodwork proved unkind for the Longhorns just 51 seconds later as a long shot from outside the top of the box from Allen rattled off the crossbar.
Missimo struck for the Burnt Orange & White at 33:22 as the freshman midfielder scored her second career goal on a 12-yard shot from the left side as the advantage expanded to 3-0.
Madden kept stopping anything that came near her net as the San Diego, Calif., product corralled key saves on Moon shots at 34:27 and 35:00.
Texas almost had the fourth goal on two different occasions at 41:01 and 42:35, but shots from freshman forward Presley Echols and Berg rolled about a foot outside the left post.
Baylor's Moon had another solid first-half scoring chance off a cross from the left wing at the 43:34 mark of the first half, but her headed effort traveled right to Madden for a catch.
Out of the halftime break, Berg nearly scored her second for Texas at 51:02 as her blast from 15 yards out rattled off the right post and back out in the middle before being cleared.
Missimo did get her second goal of the contest at 52:49 off a long pass ahead by freshman defender Kelsey Hranicky as Missimo's 13-yard blast from out top made it 4-0.
Meanwhile, at the other end, Madden continued to make every possible save and catch, stopping Moon's shot at 59:03 and leaping high in a crowd to corral a cross during the 61st minute.
Baylor came within inches of breaking up the shutout at 63:39 as Anthony battled around a defender near the left post and fired. Her slow-rolling shot across the face somehow trickled just inches outside the right post for a harmless goal kick.
Madden denied Anthony again at 65:22 as the senior net minder stuck her powerful right hand in the air to deflect a blast up and over the crossbar for her ninth save.
Madden set a new career-high of 11 saves by registering arguably her stop of the night on a Chloe Japic shot at 77:26 by leaping to punch the ball up and over the woodwork.
Down the stretch, Berg forced a Wandt stop at 85:56 and Texas sophomore forward Sydney Nobles threatened the goal on attempts at 88:15 and 88:42, but BU saves prevented the 4-0 score line from getting any larger.
