No. 18 Women’s Golf advances to NCAA Match Play quarterfinals

The fifth-seeded Longhorns will face fourth-seeded Ole Miss on Tuesday morning.
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – The No. 18 Women's Golf team posted a 3-over-par 291 on Monday afternoon to place fifth after the final round of stroke play in the 2021 NCAA Championship at Grayhawk Golf Club. The fifth-seeded Longhorns move on to the NCAA Match Play quarterfinals to face fourth-seed Mississippi on Tuesday at 9:10 a.m. CT on the 10th tee.
The Golf Channel will provide live national coverage of the quarterfinals from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. CT.
The Longhorns closed out stroke play with a 72-hole total of 9-over-par 1161 (289-288-293-291). Stanford earned the top seed after finishing stroke play at 10-under-par 1142 (291-278-277-296). Duke finished second at 3-over 1155 (292-281-293-289), while Oklahoma State placed third at 5-over-par 1157 (297-289-282-289.
Kaitlyn Papp was the low Longhorn for the second time this week, carding a 1-under-par 71 on Monday afternoon and tied for 15th in the individual standings at 2-over-par 290 (70-74-75-71). She carded birdies on the sixth and 11th holes today with her lone blemish occurring with a bogey on the 15th hole.
Agathe Laisne had the next lowest round for Texas on Monday, registering an even-par 72 that featured birdies on the first, seventh, 15th and 17th holes. Laisne finished stroke play tied for 20th at 3-over par 291 (72-74-73-72).
Sara Kouskova and Sophie Guo each closed out their week with rounds of 2-over 74. Both Longhorns carded birdies on the seventh hole, while Guo birdied the 17th hole and Kouskova closed out her round with a birdie on the eighteenth.
Kouskova finished the week tied for 15th in individual play at 2-over-par 290 (74-70-72-74) and Guo tied for 20th at 3-over par 291 (73-70-74-74).
Ashley Park posted a final-round score of 4-over-par 76 and closed out the week in 75th at 17-over-par 305 (80+75+74+76).
Should Texas win its quarterfinal match, it would advance to play the winner of the Stanford-Arizona quarterfinal contest on Tuesday, May 25 afternoon. Golf Channel will provide live national coverage of the semifinals from 4-8 p.m. CT.
