AUSTIN, Texas — Fresh off leading The University of Texas Women's Tennis program to the NCAA team title, the UT coaching staff picked up a pair of well-deserved honors from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) on Monday. Head Coach Howard Joffe was named the ITA Division I Women's National Coach of the Year, and Associate Head Coach Taylor Fogleman was selected as the ITA Division I Women's National Assistant Coach of the Year.
Joffe recently completed his sixth season as the head coach of the Longhorns, while Fogleman finished his fourth season at Texas.
The ITA's National Coach of the Year award dates back to the 1984 season. Joffe is just the second individual in UT history to earn the prestigious honor, as Jeff Moore claimed the accolade in 1993. The National Assistant Coach of the Year honor dates back to the 1997 season, and Fogleman is the first Texas coach to earn the award.
Texas posted a 31-1 overall dual-match record in 2021 and claimed its third NCAA team title in program history. The Longhorns swept the Big 12 regular season and tournament championships and ended the season on a 24-match win streak. UT's 31 dual-match wins established a school single-season record, topping the previous mark of 29 set by the 1983-84 team (29-7 mark).
