The Longhorns begin the Steve Sarkisian era with a promising mix of veteran returnees and emerging talent on both sides of the ball. As the 31st head coach in program history, Sarkisian takes the reigns and brings Power 5 head coaching experience, ties to the NFL and a national championship pedigree, having developed and directed some of the most dynamic offenses in college football history. He assembled a high-powered staff to help lead the charge in his "All Gas, No Brakes" approach to Texas Football. All totaled among the 10 assistant coaches and Director of Football Performance, his staff has a combined 234 years of coaching experience, including 200 years in collegiate coaching, 101 bowl games, 11 College Football Playoff games and seven National Championship Games, and they have won six of those. They'll have a great nucleus to work with from a Longhorn squad that finished last season ranked No. 20 nationally. That group returns over two dozen players who started at least one game on offense or defense in 2020 and almost every starter from season-capping 55-23 victory over Colorado in the Valero Alamo Bowl, including Offensive MVP RB Bijan Robinson and Defensive MVP LB DeMarvion Overshown. "There's a lot of talent on this team. I think there's championship talent on this team…it's time to roll our sleeves up and go to work," said Coach Sark.
