Austin – The Texas Football program, entering its first season under head coach Steve Sarkisian, is ranked No. 21 in The Associated Press Top 25 preseason poll, which was released on Monday.
It is the fifth-straight season in which UT has been ranked in the preseason top 25 of that poll. The Longhorns will open the season against Louisiana, which is ranked No. 23 in the poll, on Saturday, Sept. 4, at 3:30 p.m. CT at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium in a game that will air on FOX.
Five of Texas' 2021 opponents qualified for and won bowl games last season. In 2021, the Longhorns will play nine of 12 regular-season games in the Lone Star State, with Texas traveling to face Arkansas in Fayetteville on Sept. 11, visiting Iowa State in Ames on Nov. 6 and closing out the road slate at West Virginia in Morgantown on Nov. 20.
