Cross Country sweeps 2021 season opener

Both teams claim top seven finishes at Tornado Watch Invitational.
CONCORDIA, Texas – The Texas Cross Country programs opened the 2021 season sweeping the men's and women's 5K at the Tornado Watch Invitational at Old Settler's Park.
Yaseen Abdalla gave UT its first win of the season, finishing the 5K in 14:56.4. The Longhorns had the top seven times to score a perfect 15 points in the opening race of the season. Haftu Knight finished close behind in second with his time of 14:50.2.
On the women's side, freshman Eva Jess began her collegiate career winning the women's 5K with a time of 18.12.2. The women also finished with the top seven times, scoring 15 points to complete the sweep for the Horns.
Looking ahead, the Longhorns will travel to Stillwater, Okla., on Sept. 18 for the 83rd-annual Cowboy Jamboree on the OSU Cross Country Course.
