AUSTIN, Texas – On Thursday night at Mike A. Myers Stadium, freshman forward and two-time reigning Big 12 Conference Freshman of the Week Trinity Byars set a new program record by scoring in her sixth consecutive match as Texas soccer (6-3-3, 2-0-1 Big 12) remained unbeaten in league play with a 1-1 (2OT) tie against No. 10 TCU (8-2-1, 1-1-1 Big 12).

The Details
TCU wasted little time jumping in front as the Horned Frogs scored just 9:18 in. Camryn Lancaster took possession out on the left side of the 18. She dribbled quickly to her right into space and rattled a 15-yard shot off the underside of the cross bar and over the line to make it 1-0.
Grosso tried to answer right back for the Horns just 24 seconds later, but her effort from the left wing traveled right to Horned Frog keeper Lauren Kellett.
Both teams continued firing away throughout the remainder of the opening half. Madden was summoned into action on TCU shots by Payton Crews (26:38), Grace Collins (28:29), Skylar Heinrich (32:56) and Maddy Warren (39:03), while Kellett had to make stops on shots from Texas freshman Holly Ward (27:28), freshman midfielder Ashlyn Miller (31:03) and junior forward Sydney Nobles (36:38).
With time running short in the initial 45 minutes, UT senior defender Cameron Brooks raced forward and hammered a promising 14-yard shot off the left side netting.
Out of the break at 47:17, senior defender Mackenzie McFarland cranked up Texas' pressure by firing a quick shot from the right side that was parried by Kellett out to her right before being cleared away.
Missimo blasted away at 47:57 as her 26-yard attempt from the top of the box was saved on a bounce by Kellett.
After threatening numerous times, the Longhorns finally located the equalizer at 49:25. Grosso started the play out on the left wing by controlling the ball and passing to Byars in the middle of the 18. The Richardson, Texas, native found space to her left and drove a left-footed effort into the lower right corner from 14 yards out to tie the match at 1-1.
Grosso came desperately close to handing Texas the lead at 51:42, but her 10-yard shot from the middle of the box rolled about a foot outside the right post.
TCU soon turned the tables pressure-wise as the Horned Frogs offense registered four shots over a stretch of 2:13 from 57:00-59:13.
Sophomore defender Lauren Lapomarda delivered a huge play for Texas in the 64th minute as a TCU cross from the right wing was deflected by a leaping Madden slightly towards the net. Lapomarda was positioned perfectly to save a potential "own goal" off the line before the Longhorns cleared.
Grosso created another dangerous scoring chance at 69:58 by working her way in a crowd to the top of the six-yard box before having her shot blocked.
Both teams continued to fire away with impunity as Missimo forced a Kellett save on a 17-yard shot at 80:35 and blasted a 22-yard effort about a yard over the top at 83:17.
It was TCU that may have had the best scoring chance down the stretch in regulation as forward Messiah Bright forced a Madden save from seven yards out at 84:46 before missing wide left on a follow-up at 85:18.
In the first "sudden victory" overtime session, TCU nearly ended the match at the 91:15 mark. Gracie Brian found space on the left wing and hit a 10-yard shot that Madden dove to her left to tip off the outside of the right post for a corner kick.
Lancaster forced Madden into action again at 103:56 as her 12-yard shot was saved by Madden at the right post via a deflection over the end line.
Texas nearly caught lightning in a bottle with just 20 seconds remaining in the second OT. Brooks again raced up from the back to take possession and launched a lengthy try from the left wing that rattled off the upper right section of the cross bar before being cleared.
