2025 Summit League Midfielder of the Year garners third preseason honor.
AUSTIN, Texas — Texas Longhorns fifth-year Hannah Tate was among the 65 players selected to the watch list for the MAC Hermann Trophy, the United Soccer Coaches and the Intercollegiate Women's Soccer Organization for Coaches announced Wednesday afternoon.
The Hermann Trophy is presented annually by the Missouri Athletic Club and is the nation's highest individual honor recognizing the National Player of the Year as determined by the voting of the Division I head coaches who are members of the United Soccer Coaches.
For Tate, it marks her third preseason honor in 2026. The midfielder/defender also landed on the SEC Preseason watch list and was tabbed as a United Soccer Coaches forward to watch.
A native of Omaha, Neb., Tate spent the last four years at Denver University. The 5-foot-9 standout has appeared in 43 career matches, drawing 37 starts. She has registered five goals and two assists across 3,034 minutes.
During her final campaign at Denver, Tate was named the 2025 Summit League Midfielder of the Year and earned a spot on the United Soccer Coaches All-West Region First Team.
She started all 15 contests she played in, logging the full 90 minutes all but once. Tate scored a co-league-best two game-winning goals, delivering tallies at North Dakota on Sept. 25 and against South Dakota on Oct. 26. She also added an assist on the 88th-minute equalizer at St. Thomas on Oct. 16.
Tate and the Longhorns begin their 2026 season against HCU on Wednesday. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Mike A. Myers Stadium.
