No. 23 Men place third, Women take fourth at Big 12 XC Championships

Alonzo, Knight and Rivera named to All-Big 12 Team.
LUBBOCK, Texas – Isaac Alonzo and Monica Hebner led the Texas cross country programs with top Longhorn finishes at the 2022 Big 12 Championships.
Alonzo led the No. 23 men's team to a third-place team finish with 59 points, two shy of second place. The Lubbock native led Texas for the third time this season and finished third individually with his time of 24:13.3.
The sophomore's third-place finish is the best individual finish for the Longhorns since Sam Worley finished third in 2017.
Junior Haftu Knight finished eighth with a time of 24:28.4, while Rodger Rivera closed out the top-10 finishers with his time of 24:31.2.
Freshman Nathanael Berhane was the fourth finisher for the Longhorns, crossing the finish line in 19th with a personal-best time of 24:48.5. Senior Cruz Gomez ran just over 25 minutes at 25:00.4 to finish 23rd.
Abraham Avila-Martinez and Emmanuel Sgouros rounded out the scorers for the Longhorns with times of 25:32.7 and 25:34.2, respectively.
Alonzo, Knight and Rivera were all named to the All-Big 12 Team for finishing in the 15 of the race. It's the first time both Alonzo and Rivera have been tabbed with the award, while Knight secured his second of his career.
On the women's side, Hebner's 20th-place finish with a 27-second personal-best time of 21:41.8, led the team to a fourth-place finish with 130 points. It's the second-straight season Texas has finished fourth.
Beth Ramos finished the women's 6K close behind in 22nd with her time of 21:43.7, ending her eight-race streak as the top finisher for Texas. Valery Tobias scored 25 points for Texas with a 26-th place finish at 21:57.2, while sophomore Eva Jess added 30 with her time of 22:11.0.
Junior Kelsie Vicknair crossed the line in 22:23.1 minutes, while Alyssa Duhart (22:52.2) and Allyson Little (22:55.5) closed out the scoring for Texas as the top-seven burnt orange competitors.
Oklahoma State swept both team finishes, while Alex Maier of OSU won the individual men's 8K and Ceili McCabe of West Virginia won the women's 6K.
