Two-time defending national champions set for the lone fall regatta of the season.
AUSTIN, Texas – Texas Rowing compete in the inaugural Waco Rowing Regatta on Sunday in Waco, Texas – the lone regatta for the Longhorns in the fall. The regatta is a 5K Head Race on the Brazos River, beginning on the banks of Brazos Park East, traveling from the historic bridges of downtown Waco to the bluffs of Cameron Park.

Texas will be racing five boats in the Women's Collegiate 8+.
Last Time Out
Texas won the 2022 NCAA Championship, the second-straight year the Longhorns were crowned national championships. The Texas First Eight also won a second consecutive title, winning the Grand Final in convincing fashion to seal UT's team victory. The Texas Four placed third at the national regatta and the Second Eight placed fourth.
National Honors
Francesca Raggi was named the CRCA Division I Athlete of the Year, the inaugural recipient of the honor, while she Aspa Christodoulidis, Anna Jensen, Kaitlin Knifton and Rachel Rane earned CRCA Division All-American accolades. Dave O'Neill was tabbed the CRCA Coach of the Year for the second year in a row and fifth time in his career. He is the only coach to have earned the honor more than three times. Additionally, the Texas staff repeated as the CRCA Staff of the Year. On top of the CRCA honors, Kate Knifton was named the USRowing U23 Female Athlete of the Year.
A Look at the Longhorns
The two-time defending national champion and seven-time defending Big 12 Conference champion Longhorns return four student-athletes who earned CRCA All-American recognition following last year's title run. Rowers Anna Jensen, Kaitlin Knifton and Francesca Raggi and coxswain Rachel Rane lead the way for Texas, as well as 2022 Big 12 Co-Newcomer of the Year Grace Holland.
All told, 16 of the 20 rowers and all three coxswains who competed in the 2022 National Championship regatta are back for the 2022-23 season.
Also returning from last year's champion First Eight boat are Etta Carpender, Susanna Temming and Sophia Calabrese, while returners from the Second Eight crew will be coxswain Olivia Fogarty and rowers Hannah Medcalf, Amber Harwood, Lanie Nitsch, Parker Illingworth, Marielle Corbett, Cassandre Korvink-Kucinski and Caitlin Esse. Back from the Four is coxswain Carly Legenzowski and rowers Jane McGee and Nadja Yaroschuk.

Defending Conference Champions
Texas enters 2022-23 as the seven-time defending Big 12 Conference Champions. In all, Texas has won 11 of the 13 Big 12 Conference Championships held, placing runner-up in 2013 and fourth in 2014.
