Texas swept all five races against the Hoosiers.
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – No. 2 Texas Rowing swept all five races against No. 24 Indiana at the Dale England Rowing Center on Lake Lemon Thursday. It was the first dual regatta between both programs.
Each of Texas' boats remains undefeated on the season after the Longhorns swept four races at the San Diego Crew Classic on March 28-29.
"We had a really good morning, and this was a definite step in the right direction," head coach Dave O'Neill said. "Indiana is always nationally ranked and perennially a top fifteen team at NCAAs, so I'm fairly pleased with how we did. There were many positive takeaways and a few things I saw where we can improve."
The Texas Second Four began the morning with a victory, winning in 7:50.200 against the Hoosiers, who finished in 8:19.200.
"The Second Four was outstanding and really made the most of today's opportunity. We had to make some lineup changes last night, and that crew handled the challenge flawlessly. It was a great effort by Meg Vegesena who stepped in and did double duty in the Third Eight, as well."
Texas cruised to an open-water victory in the I Four, clocking in at 7:34.700 ahead of Indiana (8:12.600).
"The Four was really impressive, and Alex Rollins was particularly impressive at stroke seat. She has really stepped up and made a significant impact."
The Longhorns continued their dominance Thursday morning with its third win of the day by the Second Varsity Eight. The Horns emptied their tank and finished in 6:51.700 in front of the Hoosiers (7:18.00).
"The Second Eight had a good race as they pushed the full 2000 meters. Chloe Driver, Amelia Gleed, Allie Alton and Savvy Jerome did some really good things in the middle of the boat."
Texas picked up its fourth win in the First Eight. The Longhorns finished in 6:35.500 with Indiana recording a final time of 6:57.900.
"Our First Eight rowed very well today. They've been coming together nicely, but there's a long way to go. The stern pair of Imy Grey and Lucy Searle set a solid, aggressive and almost relentless rhythm, and it's been fun to watch the whole crew improve each week."
In the final race of the day, Texas' Third Eight won in 7:14.300. Indiana registered a final time of 7:30.900.
