Three program records fall at Tiger Paw Invite

CLEMSON, S.C. – No. 1/2 Texas track and field took down three program records on the final day of the Tiger Paw Invite on Saturday.
Jonathan Jones won the men's 800m dash with an NCAA-leading and Texas program record time of 1:46.93. Saturday's win broke a 13-year record with the Barbados national record time.

Brooke Jaworski claimed the women's 800m Texas record that lasted 22 years with her time of 2:04.22.

Freshman Ackelia Smith competed in her first collegiate triple jump and broke Terri Turner's 36-year record with a jump of 13.94m (45-9.00). Fellow freshman Darja Sopova finished fourth with a mark of 13.47m (44-2.50).

Tripp Piperi remained unbeaten in the shot put this season with his winning facility record mark of 21.44m (70-4.25). Piperi was the lone competitor in the field of 34 to surpass 21 meters for the second-straight weekend. Jalil Brewer finished 10th with a throw of 18.00m (59-0.75), while Patrick Piperi added a throw of 17.96m (58-11.25).

Tyra Gittens claimed her first event win as a Longhorn in the women's high jump with a mark of 1.88m (6-2.00). Senior Marleen Guerrero finished eighth with her jump of 1.72m (5-7.75) and freshman Trinity Tomlinson finished with a jump of 1.67m (5-5.75).

The field events continued to excel with sophomore Warren Miller finishing with a top-five finish in the pole vault invite. His mark of 5.22m (17-1.50) earned him a fourth-place finish.
Texas track events continued to dominate with three women's 200m dash competitors finishing in the top five. Sophomore Rhasidat Adeleke finishing second with her time of 22.87, while Kynnedy Flannel crossed the line at 23.08 and Friday's 60m dash winner Julien Alfred just behind in fourth at 23.21.
The Longhorns women's 4x400 relay of Stacey-Ann Williams, Rhasidat Adeleke, Davicia Patterson and Kennedy Simon recorded the fourth-fastest time in program history at 3:28.05. The time ranks as the second-fastest time in the country this season.
