Atkinson moves to No. 2 all-time in 5,000m as multiple Longhorns record personal bests Friday.
AZUSA, Calif. – The No. 4/5 Texas Track & Field distance squad continued competition on Friday night at the Bryan Clay Invitational with a series of personal-best performances at Cougar Stadium.
In the women's 5,000 meters invite, Sophie Atkinson delivered a standout effort, clocking a personal-best 15:34.33, dropping 38 seconds off of her previous best, to move into second on Texas' all-time performers list in the event. Elizabeth Pickett followed with a season-best time of 16:06.02.
On the men's side, Nathanael Berhane recorded a personal-best 13:50.81 in the 5,000 meters invite, moving into the ninth on the Texas all-time performers list.
The Longhorns also saw strong performances in the women's 800 meters invite, where Isabel Conde De Frankenberg (2:04.95), Mia Perez (2:05.19) and Grace Kowalski (2:06.38) each recorded personal bests.
Texas wraps up competition at the Bryan Clay Invitational on Saturday beginning at 5:00 p.m. PT (7:00 p.m. CT) with the women's 1500-meter Open. Meanwhile, the remainder of the team will conclude competition at the Tom Jones Memorial Invitational in Gainesville, Fla.
