Rori Harmon tallies a game-high 20 points as the Longhorns score a statement victory over the Cyclones
AUSTIN, Texas — Rori Harmon registered a game-high 20 points Wednesday evening as No. 14/14 Texas notched a resounding 73-48 victory over No. 6/5 Iowa State inside the Frank Erwin Center.
With the win, the Longhorns run their record to 18-6 overall on the season with a 8-5 mark in Big 12 competition and sweep the regular season series with the Cyclones. ISU slides to 21-4, 10-3 with the loss.
The Longhorns came out of the gates strong as they built up a 15-11 lead after the first frame and took a 31-26 advantage into the locker room at the half.
UT kept its foot on the gas in the third quarter scoring 22 points while holding ISU to just nine.
The Longhorns pulled away for good with a 20-13 fourth quarter to complete the 25-point victory.
Harmon finished the game 9-of-14 from the floor including a 2-of-3 performance from behind the arc and fell just one assist shy of a double-double as she finished with nine. Now with 107 assists on the year, Harmon became the just the seventh freshman in school history to eclipse the 100 assist mark in a season.
Audrey Warren continued her red-hot stretch offensively finishing with 16 points on a 7-of-12 performance from the field to go along with four rebounds and four steals.
Lauren Ebo led the team on the glass with eight rebounds to go along with eight points offensively. Joanne Allen-Taylor and Shay Holle also finished with eight points, respectively
Texas forced 19 Iowa State turnovers in the game, which led to 20 points. Texas committed just 10 turnovers on the other end.
UT held a 33-25 rebounding advantage in the contest and their bench outscored ISU, 23-7.
The Longhorns finished the game shooting 50 percent (32-of-64) from the field, 50 percent (5-of-10) from behind the arc and 80 percent (4-of-5) from the charity stripe.
Iowa State finished the game shooting 40.5 precent (17-of-42) from the field with a 33.3 percent (4-of-12) mark from three-point range.
The Cyclones were led offensively by Ashley Joens who finished with 18 points. Emily Ryan added 11 points.
Texas is back in action on Sunday, Feb. 20, as they travel to Morgantown for a clash with West Virginia. Tip is slated for 11:00 a.m. CT and will air nationally on ESPN 2.
