No. 1 Men’s Swimming and Diving dominates relays on day one of Big 12 Championships

Texas opened the Big 12 Championships with two Big 12 relay records.
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – No. 1 Texas Men's Swimming and Diving opened the Big 12 Championships winning two of three events and established two meet relay records on Wednesday at The Aquatic Center at Mylan Park.
The Longhorns started the day establishing a meet and pool record in the 200 medley relay with the combination of freshman Anthony Grimm, junior Caspar Corbeau and seniors Alvin Jiang and Cameron Auchinachie posting a 1:22.24.
Texas' relay squads followed that with a dominant win in the 800 free relay with senior Drew Kibler, sophomore Coby Carrozza, freshman Luke Hobson and sophomore Carson Foster tallying a time of 6:08.76, almost eight seconds faster than the previous pool record and besting the meet record by almost three seconds.
In the first individual event of the week, junior Andrew Harness placed second on the 1-meter springboard with a score of 359.15 and freshman Manuel Borowski took third with 353.53 points.

HIGHLIGHTS
- Texas has won 18 consecutive 200 medley relays and 23 overall at the Big 12 Championships.
- The victory marked the third-straight for Corbeau and is the second in a row for Jiang.
- UT has won 25 of the 26 conference titles in the 800 free relay including each of the last 18.
- Kibler won the 800 free relay for the fourth time and Foster claimed his second-straight victory in the race.
- The Longhorns claimed the second through fifth spots in the 1-meter final with Harness and Borowski followed by sophomore Brendan McCourt in fourth with 346.55 points and senior Andrew Gawin-Parigini placing fifth with 325.55 points.
