No. 2 Women’s Swimming and Diving captures Big 12 Championship

Texas swept all 21 events on the way to a 10th consecutive conference title.
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – No. 2 Women's Swimming and Diving completed a sweep of the competition at the 2022 Big 12 Conference Championships on Saturday at The Aquatic Center at Mylan Park to win its 10th-straight conference title, all since the arrival of head coach Carol Capitani.
Sophomore Olivia Bray started the evening off for the Longhorns by establishing her second meet record in as many nights with a time of 1:51.09 in the 200 backstroke. The mark also moved her to number two on UT's all-time list.
In the 100 free, junior Kelly Pash picked up her third individual title of the meet with a time of 48.42.
Erica Sullivan followed with her second win of the week, taking home the 1650 title with a time of 15.58.74.
Anna Elendt put on a show in the 200 breaststroke, touching the wall at 2:03.92 to improve upon her own program record as well as establish new conference, meet and pool records. The sophomore won the 100 breaststroke earlier in the meet, marking the second-straight year she has won both events.
Emma Sticklen followed with a win in the 200 fly with an a-cut time of 1:52.82.
On the Platform, junior Jordan Skilken won her second career conference crown with a score of 386.45.
The Longhorns closed out the sweep of the meet with a victory in the 400 free relay by juniors Bridget Semenuk and Kyla Leibel, Bray and Pash who notched an a-cut time of 3:12.68.

HIGHLIGHTS
- Pash's three individual victories netted her Swimmer of the Meet honors for the second consecutive year.
- Freshman Hailey Hernandez swept the springboard competition to earn Diver of the Meet honors.
- Sullivan's victory in the 1650 free was her second of the week, having also won the 500 free to open Thursday's competition. She also tallied a fourth-place finish in the 400 IM, helping her earn Newcomer of the Meet accolades.
- Senior Paola Pineda placed second on the Platform with 323.60 points.
- Texas posted the top-five times in the 100 free, with Semenuk (48.73) winning the silver and Leibel (49.26) taking the bronze, while senior Julia Cook (49.40) and sophomore Grace Cooper (49.65) finished fourth and fifth, respectively.
- The Longhorns went 1-2-3 in the 1650 free with senior Evie Pfeifer (16:00.28) placing second and freshman Olivia McMurray (16:22.78) taking third.
- Freshman Channing Hanley tallied a third-place result in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:12.34.
- Mary Smutny placed second in the 200 fly with the junior touching the wall at 1:59.08.
