AUSTIN, Texas – Fresh off a Big 12 Conference sweep, the Longhorns' eyes are set on the big one – the NCAA team title.
The No. 3 women send 16 entries to the NCAA Championships sparked by two women with the second-best marks in the country in their respective events. Julien Alfred led the country in the 60m dash for five weeks with her time of 7.10 seconds, while Kristine Blazevica's Texas-record in the pentathlon also ranks as No. 2 heading into competition.
The Longhorns' No. 6 men's squad will send 10 entries, the fourth-most this season, in hopes of its first team title in program history. All-American Tripp Piperi earned his eighth shot put Big 12 title and travels to Birmingham in hopes of his second individual national title.
Leo Neugebauer will start the competition on Friday at 10 a.m. in the heptathlon 60m dash. Blazevica will follow at 10:20 in the pentathlon 60m hurdles.p>
