Women’s Swimming and Diving in second after first night of NCAA Championships

The Longhorns opened the 2022 NCAA Championships with a pair of top-five relay results.
ATLANTA – Women's Swimming and Diving sits in second place at the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships following Wednesday's opening night of the four-day meet at the McAuley Aquatic Center.
Texas tallied 58 points, trailing only Virginia (74) and holding a slight lead over California (56) and Stanford (54).

Texas opened the national meet with a fifth-place finish in the 200 medley relay with a time a time of 1:34.46 behind the quartet of senior Julia Cook and sophomores Anna Elendt, Olivia Bray and Emma Sticklen.
The 800 free relay crew of junior Kelly Pash, Bray, junior Kyla Leibel and senior Evie Pfeifer, the Longhorns posted a season-best time of 6:56.21 to place fourth. Pash posted an outstanding split of 1:42.94, just shy of her school-record mark of 1:42.70, while Leibel clocked 1:43.95.
Thursday's action will feature competition in the 500-yard freestyle, 200-yard individual medley, 50-yard freestyle, 1-meter springboard diving and 200-yard freestyle relay.
The Longhorns continue competition at the NCAA Championships on Thursday, March 17 through Saturday, March 19 at the McAuley Aquatic Center. Prelims start at 9 a.m. CT with the finals sessions scheduled to get underway each day at 5 p.m. CT. All prelim and finals sessions will be streamed live on ESPN3.
