ROUND TWO: Fresh off of a 70-52 victory over Fairfield in their NCAA Tournament opener on Friday, the No. 6/7-ranked and No.2-seeded Texas Women's Basketball team will look to punch their ticket to the Sweet Sixteen Sunday afternoon as they clash with No. 7-seed Utah inside the Frank Erwin Center. The Utes are coming off an impressive 92-69 victory over No. 11 Arkansas in their first round matchup on Friday .
ONE LAST BEAT OF THE DRUM: Sunday's matchup with the Utes will mark the final collegiate athletic event to take place inside the Frank Erwin Center. The Longhorns have called 'The Drum' home since the 1977-78 season. Texas will make its move to the newly constructed Moody Center next season.
ERWIN CENTER POSTSEASON SUCCESS: Including Friday evening's 70-52 victory over Fairfield, Texas has won 7-straight NCAA Championship Tournament games at the Erwin Center dating back to the 2015-16 tourney. Texas' last lost came in 2009, 74-63 to San Diego State in the first-round. Texas is 26-9 in all-time NCAA Championship Tournament games at the Erwin Center.
HARMON CHASING FRESHMAN RECORD: With 163 season assists, Texas rookie point guard Rori Harmon enters Sunday's game needing just four assists to break the freshman single-season assists record. Terri Mack 1980-81 holds the record with 166 assists.
SCOUTING THE UTES: Utah enters Sunday's matchup with one of the most potent offenses in the country as they lead the PAC 12 Conference and rank No.16 in the NCAA in scoring averaging 76.5 points per game. They also rank No. 1 in the PAC 12 and No. 7 nationally in three-point shooting averaging 9.6 triples per contest.
The Utes are led offensively by PAC 12 Freshman of the Year Gianna Kneepkens who averages 12.1 points per game while shooting 45 percent from the field and 38.9 percent from behind the arc. Jenna Johnson is the teams' second leading scorer at 11.9 points per contest while Brynna Maxwell averages 10.8. Kelsey Rees is the team's leading rebounder at 4.8 boards per game.
NEXT: Should the Longhorns come out on top of Sunday's tilt with the Utes, they would advance to the Sweet 16 Round which is slated to begin next Friday, March 25 in Spokane, Wash.
