Four Longhorns Break into All-Time List

WALNUT, Calif. - The No. 1/1 Texas track and field team began day one of the Mt. Sac Relays with five field events advancing to the Friday's finals and four 10,000m runners breaking into the Texas All-Time list.
Marilyn Nwora advanced to Friday's final in the women's shot put with the second-best mark of the day at 17.04m (55-11). The senior won flight two of the event on her first of three throws.
Chrystal Herpin and Kiana Lowery also advanced to Friday's discus final after two top-seven finishes. Lowery's throw of 51.10m (167-8) was a personal-best, while Herpin added a throw of 49.46m (162-3) for seventh. The pair will compete in the final at 3:15 p.m.
Jalil Brewer and Patrick Piperi advanced to the collegiate shot put final on Friday at 11 a.m. taking third and fourth place.
Allyson Little and Kelsie Vicknair got the track events started in the 3000m steeplechase. Little set a six-second personal-best time at 10:41.95,
Three women competed in the 10,000m elite run with Isabel Hebner finishing in the top 10 in fifth with her time of 33:41.09. The time ranks as the fourth-fastest time in Texas history and a personal best for the senior. Beth Ramos broke into the Texas all-time list at No. 10 with her time of 34:34.44, while Monica Hebner finished at 34:52.63.
Alexa Rodriguez finished the women's 5000m collegiate run with a 34:59.95.
Haftu Knight climbed to No. 2 on the Texas all-time list in the 10,000m with his time of 28:30.93 to finish eighth in the field of 43. Yaseen Abdalla climbed to No. 3 all-time with his time of 28:33.38 and finished ninth. Abraham Avila-Martinez closed out the top-20 competitors with his time of 28:48.18 (No. 4 all-time) and Isaac Alonzo finished with a time of 29:15.14.
