No. 1 Track Close Out Mt. Sac Relays

WALNUT, Calif. – The No. 1/1 Texas track and field team closed out the Mt. Sac Relays against some of the world's elite athletes.
Grad transfer Tyra Gittens started the day for the Longhorns in the Women's elite high jump, finishing third with a jump of 1.80m (5-10.75).
Junior Julien Alfred scorched the competition in the 100m dash with a winning wind-legal time of 10.98 seconds. The time ranks as the No. 2 time in the NCAA this season and No. 3 in Texas history. Kynnedy Flannel finished seventh at 11.30 seconds.
On the men's side, Marcellus Moore finished second with a time of 10.26, matching the No. 10 time in Texas history. Daniel Garland finished fourth with a time of 10.30 seconds.
The men's 4x100 put up a winning time of 39.27 by Garland, Moore, Caleb Hulbin and Micaiah Harris.
Jonathan Jones competed in the men's 800m elite run against seven professionals and finished fourth with a time of 1:48.91.
Tripp Piperi also competed in the elite event in the shot put and finished second with a throw of 21.52m (70-7.25), outdoing seven pros.
Leo Neugebauer and Stacy Brown competed in the elite long jump event and posted two top-eight marks. Neugebauer finished with a season-best jump of 7.61m (24-11.75), while Stacy Brown finished eighth at 7.57m (24-10).
Ackelia Smith finished fourth in the women's elite triple jump with a mark of 13.75m (45-1.50) and Darja Sopova finished eighth at 12.98m (42-7).
