Hobson wins 200m free national title

IRVINE, Calif. - Luke Hobson took home the 200m freestyle national title on Wednesday night at the 2022 Phillips 66 National Championship.
In the first final of the night at the William Woollett Jr. Aquatics Center, Hobson stunned the crowd with his winning time of 1:46.14 to bring home the title. Hobson is now one of four Longhorns with the top fastest 200m free times in 2022 with his ranking as the fourth-fastest this year. Drew Kibler holds the fastest time this year at 1:45.01 after his winning performance at the World Championships, while Carson Foster holds the third (1:45.57) and Coby Carrozza in eighth (1:46.86). Foster and Carrozza both recorded those times at the International Team Trials.
Three Longhorns later finished in the top-five of the 200m Breaststroke A Final with Jake Foster bringing home the silver medal with a time of 2:09.00. Caspar Corbeau took home the final spot on the podium with a time of 2:09.03. Texas Ex Will Licon finished fifth with a time of 2:09.13.
Day three of the meet continues on Thursday in the 400 IM heats at 11 am CT, followed by the finals at 7 p.m. aired on the Olympic Channel.
