Soccer’s Lexi Missimo listed among national “Midfielders to Watch”

The Southlake, Texas, native is one of 38 women highlighted on the United Soccer Coaches Watch List
AUSTIN, Texas – Texas sophomore Lexi Missimo has been included as one of 38 female student-athletes on United Soccer Coaches' preseason list of national "midfielders to watch" according to a Friday release from the organization.
The preseason list is being released for the first time this season by the Division I All-American Committee to promote college soccer leading up to the official start date of the regular season. It's made up of 2021 United Soccer Coaches All-Americans & first or second-team All-Region players who are returning for the 2022 campaign.
Missimo made quite a splash during her Big 12 Conference Freshman of the Year campaign in 2021. The Southlake, Texas, native and United Soccer Coaches All-Midwest Region selection scored nine goals and dished a league-high & Texas freshman record 14 assists for 32 total points (fourth in the Big 12). Along the way, she totaled points in 12-of-22 matches and at least three points in five separate contests. Included was a program-record-tying performance during Texas' 7-0 rout of UTRGV (Sept. 12) as Missimo became the first Longhorns player to score four goals in a match in 18 years. She also tied a program mark by dishing four assists during a 4-3 victory at Oklahoma on Sept. 2 and registered match-winning goals to down both SIUE (Sept. 19) and Iowa State (Oct. 8).
Texas will begin its 2022 campaign on Fri., Aug. 12, as the Longhorns host Incarnate Word at 7 p.m. CT in an exhibition contest that will be broadcast live on Longhorn Network. Admission is free for all home matches and parking will be available for free for fans in Manor Garage (free parking is for this exhibition match ONLY).
