Women’s Basketball secures victory over No. 15 Iowa State, 68-53

Longhorns knock off their second ranked opponent of the week with the win over the Cyclones.
AUSTIN, Texas — The Texas women's basketball defense held No. 15 Iowa State to six points in the fourth quarter as the Longhorns posted a 68-53 victory over the Cyclones in front of 6,405 fans at Moody Center on Sunday.
DeYona Gaston led Texas with 17 points and Shaylee Gonzales and Sonya Morris each added 11 points. Rori Harmon scored six points, dished out seven assists grabbed seven rebounds and tallied three steals. Amina Muhammad posted six points and seven rebounds and Taylor Jones tallied eight points.
Texas (13-5, 4-1) used a 13-0 run to start the fourth quarter and build a 65-49 lead. During the stretch, the Longhorns held Iowa State (11-4, 3-2) without a field goal for six minutes and 17 seconds.
Up next the Longhorns travel to Texas Tech for a game on Wednesday, Jan. 18 at 7:00 p.m. CT.
