No. 13 Men's TF Carrozza breaks 800 program record

Neugebauer adds fourth-best heptathlon performance in UT history.
Boston, Mass. – Crayton Carrozza of the No. 13 Texas men's track and field program broke two records with his NCAA-leading 800m time at the Boston Terrier Classic.
His winning time of 1:48.26 broke Jonathan Jones' one-year program record by .65 seconds in his second 800m of the season. Friday's time was a new personal best for the three-time indoor All-American and set a new Boston University facility record.

The men's mile saw freshman Emmanuel Sgouros lead the group of six with the fastest time by a Longhorn at 4:07.17 in his first collegiate mile race. Fellow freshman Logan Patete set a new personal best with his time of 4:11.68, while All-American Cruz Gomez opened his indoor season with a time of 4:11.81.
Sophomore Edwin Gomez finished close behind with a personal-best time of 4:11.88, while Rodger Rivera (4:12.78) and Hudson Heikkinen (4:20.12) closed out the competitors for Texas.
Fresh off his breakout cross country season, Isaac Alonzo broke into the Texas record book in the 3000m with his time of 7:59.64 to become the No. 8 All-Time performer with the 10th-fastest time in UT history. His 23-second personal best set the tone for his teammates with Abraham Avila-Martinez finishing with a time of 8:07.23 and a seven-second PB.
Freshman Nathanael Berhane crossed the finish line in 8:16.90 in his indoor collegiate debut, while cross country All-American Haftu Knight finished at 8:19.31. Sam Bass closed out the competitors finishing with a personal-best time of 8:21.72.
Back in Texas, Leo Neugebauer finished as the runner-up in the 2023 Texas Tech Multis heptathlon scoring 6,097 points. The All-American closed out the final three events with a personal-best in the 60m hurdles at 8.16 seconds. He later cleared 4.90m (16-0.75) in pole vault and headed into the final event in second-place with 5,310 points.

He added a ninth-place finish in the 1000m with a time of 2:50.85 to add his final 757 points.
Neugebauer's score ranks as the fourth-best score in Texas history. He currently ranks as the No. 2 heptathlon performer in program history after scoring 6.148 points during last season's NCAA Championships.
