No. 2 Women’s Swim and Dive breaks program records in victory over No. 4 NC State

The Longhorns established a program record in the 200 medley relay, Emma Sticklen broke her own UT record in the 100 fly and Lydia Jacoby improved upon her American Age Group record in the 100 breast.
AUSTIN, Texas – No. 2 Women's Swimming and Diving cruised to victory over No. 4 NC State, 124-62, on Friday night at the Lee & Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center, establishing a pair of program records in the process.
Texas opened the swimming events winning the 200 medley relay with a program-best time of 1:33.70. The squad of Olivia Bray, Anna Elendt, Emma Sticklen and Grace Cooper finished second on the day with the second-fastest time in the NCAA this season, but topped the previous program standard of 1:34.04 established at the 2022 Big 12 Championships.
Sticklen added to her record-breaking evening by besting her own program record and setting a pool record in the 100 fly, winning with a time of 49.79, becoming the first Longhorn to post a sub-50 second time.
Lydia Jacoby added a win in the 100 breast with a personal-best 57.45, best her own American Age Group Record and improving her spot as the second-fastest in program history and also the number two time in the NCAA on the year.
Texas Diving began the day with a sweep on the 1-meter, highlighted by Hailey Hernandez's 337.13-point performance.
Kelly Pash won a pair of events, taking the victory in the 200 free with a mark of 1:42.73, the best time in the nation this season, then came away with a win in the 200 IM, posting a season-best 1:53.81, the NCAA's third-fastest time this year.
Erica Sullivan followed fastest 500 free in the nation this year at 4:35.88 and Bray added a win in the 200 back with a season-best 1:50.46.
Texas closed out the night with a victory in the 400 free relay with a time of 3:11.53. Bridget Semenuk, Kyla Leibel, Ava Longi and Pash teamed for the third-best mark in the nation this season. The Longhorns were in second when Pash began the final leg and she clocked the fastest split in the race at 46.57 to lead UT to the victory.
Texas and NC State will square off again on Saturday with 3-meter diving set to begin at 10 a.m.
HIGHLIGHTS:
- The Longhorns claimed victories in eight of the 10 events, finished 1-2 in four events and swept the top-three spots on the 1-meter.
- Texas Diving netted the only 300-point performances of the day on the 1-meter. Hailey Hernandez brought home the win with 337.15 points, followed by Bridget O'Neil (327.45), Janie Boyle (308.93) and Jordan Skilken (301.50).
- Olivia Bray picked up a second-place finish in the 200 free with a personal-best 1:44.94.
- Dakota Luther took third in the 100 fly, clocking 51.90 to become the sixth-fastest in program history.
- Anna Elendt took second in the 100 breast with a time of 57.74.
- Olivia McMurray finished runner-up in the 500 free with a personal-best 4:42.48 and Abby Pfeifer swam a personal-best 4:44.55 to finish fifth.
- Bridget Semenuk (22.23) and Grace Cooper (22.30) finished second and third in the 50 free, while Kyla Leibel (22.48) took fourth.
- Emma Sticklen added a second-place finish in the 200 IM with a personal-best 1:54.70, making her the fifth-fastest Longhorn in the event. Luther placed fifth with a time of 2:00.22.
- In the 200 back, Meghan DiMartile (1:58.93) and Pfeifer (2:00.74) finished third and fourth, respectively.
