Micah Braswell set for quarterfinals in singles main draw at ITA Fall Nationals

Senior Micah Braswell moved on with a win in the round of 16 on Thursday in San Diego.
San Diego – Texas Men's Tennis senior No. 17 Micah Braswell advanced to the quarterfinals of the singles main draw at the ITA National Fall Championships on Thursday in San Diego.
The 3 seed Braswell took down Utah State's Bodin Zarkovic in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3, in the round of 16 to move on. Braswell took his first lead in the match courtesy of a break in the third game which provided a 2-1 advantage. Both players then proceeded to hold their serves for the remainder of the set, giving Braswell a 6-4 win. In the second set, Braswell won four consecutive games which saw breaks in the third and fifth games, making the score 4-1. Zarkovic answered with a break of his own in the sixth game followed by a hold to make the score 4-3. Braswell would go on to win the final two games and cap off the match with a deuce-point break, giving the Texas senior a 6-3 win.
Braswell is now set for a rematch of the ITA Texas Regionals final against No. 82 Pedro Vives of TCU when they meet in the quarterfinals on Friday at 10 a.m. PT/12 p.m. CT. Braswell defeated Vives, 6-4, 6-4, in that previous meeting at the ITA Texas Regionals.
