Texas nabs multiple All-American honors for the same season for the first time since 2006; third time in program history
AUSTIN, Texas – With the holiday season quickly approaching, the United Soccer Coaches gifted The University of Texas women's soccer program two presents on Friday morning, when the organization labeled Lexi Missimo and Trinity Byars as All-Americans.
Friday morning's recognition marked the first time since the 2006 season that the Texas Longhorn women's soccer program earned multiple All-American honors from the United Soccer Coaches during the same season. It also marked just the third time in program history that multiple student-athletes have earned All-American status from the organization during the same season.
After earning a spot on the United Soccer Coaches All-Midwest First Team earlier in the week, Missimo became just the third student-athlete in program history to earn First Team All-American status with Friday's honor. Byars, who was selected as a First Team All-American in 2022, became the first student-athlete in program history since Cyera Hintzen (2017-18) to earn All-American status in consecutive seasons with her second team honor this season.
In total, Missimo and Byars' All-American honors are just the 14th and 15th in program history, while Missimo became just the ninth different student-athlete in program history to be named a United Soccer Coaches (formally NSCAA) All-American.
Missimo (72) and Byars (50) were the highest-scoring pair of teammates across all Division I women's soccer as the midfield-forward combination combined for 122 of Texas' 214 points or 57 percent of the Longhorns' season total. Nebraska's Eleanor Dale (61) and Sarah Weber (38) were the next highest by combing for 99.
Additionally, Missimo (26) and Byars (18) scored the most goals by a pair of Division I women's soccer teammates after finding the back of the net a combined 44 times. The duo scored 62.9 percent (44-70) of the Longhorns' season total in goals. The Texas duo finished the season tied with Nebraska's Dale (28) and Weber (16) for the most goals by a pair of teammates (44) in Division I women's soccer.
