No. 4 Track & Field breaks DMR program record in South Bend

Members of the No. 4 Texas track and field program broke the DMR indoor record in its opening race of the season.
SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Members of the No. 4 Texas track and field program broke the DMR indoor record in its opening race of the season.
The men's DMR team of Cruz Gomez, Jonathan Jones, Yusuf Bizimana and Crayton Carrozza broke a two-year program record with a time of 9:22.74, shedding nearly a second off the previous Texas best.
Gomez opened the relay splitting 2:55.8 in the 1200, followed by Jones' time of 45.0 in the 400m. Bizimana ran the 800m in 1:45.6, while Carrozza ran the final leg of the 1600m in 3:55.8.
Saturday's program record marks the 11th record broken this season by the Longhorns. Carrozza now has three program records with his name on it this season after setting both the mile and the 800m records in Boston this season.
The Longhorns travel to Lubbock on Feb. 24-25 to defend their Big 12 Indoor Championship titles for the third-straight season.
