Longhorns advance to semifinal vs. Oklahoma State in Big 12 Championship.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Texas women's basketball outscored Kansas State 21-4 in the third quarter on their way to a 60-42 victory on Friday at Municipal Auditorium.
With the victory Texas will advance to the semifinal, where they will take on Oklahoma State on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. CT.
DeYona Gaston led the Longhorns with 13 points. Texas had five players score at least eight points in the game. Amina Muhammad came off the bench and scored nine points. Rori Harmon dished out seven assists for Texas. Taylor Jones posted eight points and pulled down 11 rebounds.
Trailing Kansas State, 16- 7 at the 5:17 mark of the second quarter, the Longhorns used a 9-0 run to tie the game 16-16 with 3:06 to play in the half. Texas held Kansas State scoreless for 4:33 of game time in the second quarter.
In the third quarter Texas limited Kansas State to one field goal and spurted out to a 39-22 lead on a Rori Harmon jumper at the buzzer of the quarter.
Gaston continued the momentum for Texas in the fourth quarter as she scored nine points in the final frame. The Longhorns shot 53.3 percent in the final quarter.

• The 42 points the Longhorns held the Wildcats to is the fewest for an opponent in their Big 12 Tournament history.

• Rori Harmon dished out seven assists, her 14th game this season with seven or more assists. Harmon now has 196 assists for the season.
• Texas outrebounded Kansas State 48-35 and grabbed 16 offensive rebounds. Texas is 19-5 on the season when they outrebound an opponent.
