No. 6/2 Track and Field wins four events on final day of USF Invitational

Nolton Shelvin runs a wind-aided 10.14 in the 100-meter
TAMPA, Fla. – The No. 6/2 Texas track and field team closed the final day of its spring break trip at the USF Invitational with four event wins.
Sophomore transfer Nolton Shevlin won the men's 100-meter dash with a time of 10.14w, his second best race in his career. Daniel Garland finished third at 10.22w, while Caleb Hulbin crossed in 10.51w in eighth.
The men's 1500-meter was dominated by the Longhorns with sophomore Isaac Alonzo winning his first-ever collegiate 1500 with a time of 3:51.73. Haftu Knight was the runner-up with a time of 3:52.55 in his first 1500, while freshmen Nathanael Berhane (3:54.44) and Abraham Avila-Martinez (3:54.45) finished fourth and fifth.
Rachel Helbling claimed the last track event with her winning 400-meter time of 53.32. Valery Tobias, the 800-meter All-American, finished second her personal-best time of 53.41. Freshman Christopher Brinkey Jr., was second on the men's side running 47.54.
Michelle Graham was the only field event winner in the triple jump with her jump of 12.35m/40-6.25. She finished as the runner-up in the long jump yesterday with a jump of 6.06m (19-10.75).
Sam Hurley cleared 2.15m (7-0.50) in the men's high jump to finish third, while Trinity Tomlinson was the runner-up on the women's side clearing 1.75m (5-8.75) and Claire Moreau just behind her clearing the same height but took two attempts to clear the previous bar.
The Longhorns earned three top-10 finishes in the men's discus with freshman Jeremiah Nubbe finishing second at 54.88m (180-0). Senior Sean Stavinoha finished fourth with a throw of 54.07m (177-4) and Patrick Piperi in sixth at with a personal-best throw of 53.90m (176-10). The women also had three top-10 performances with Kiana Lowery leading in third (50.38m/168-7), Chrystal Herpin in fourth (48.76m/159-11) and Meredith Adams in ninth with a throw of 46.04m (151-0).
Amity Ebarb ran another personal-best over the weekend with shedding more than five seconds off her PR in the 1500-meter with a time of 4:45.37. Allyson Little concluded the action in the 2000-meter steeplechase with a second-place finish and an eight-second PR at 7:05.25.
