No. 8 Men's Track's Knight breaks 5K program record at Stanford

Carrozza opens outdoor season winning the 800-meter.
STANFORD, Calif. – Senior Haftu Knight broke the Texas four-year 5000-meter program records at the Payton Jordan Invitational.
Knight's personal best time of 13:32.23 took down Alex Rogers' time of 13:43.97 set in 2019 at the Bryan Clay Invitational. The time was a 31-second outdoor personal best to give him the top time in Longhorns history. Sophomore Isaac Alonzo finished with the second-fastest time in school history also breaking the former record with his time of 13:41.35.
On the women's side, Monica Hebner continued her impressive final season with Texas moving to No. 9 on the All-Time performer list with her time of 16:10.05. She led the Longhorns with a third-place finish, while her sister Isabel Hebner finished fourth with a time of 16:11.33 and Beth Ramos in fifth with an 11-second PB time of 16:15.11.
Valery Tobias competed in the 1500-meter and finished with the second-fastest collegiate time of 4:17.43.
Senior Crayton Carrozza made his outdoor debut winning the men's 800-meter dash with his time of 1:47.62. Carrozza outdid Cooper Teare of Nike's Bowerman Track Club in his debut. Cruz Gomez finished fourth with his time of 1:49.05.
Back in Texas at the Michael Johnson Invitational, the high jump squad finished with a couple top-10 finishes. Freshman Evelyn Lavielle was fourth with a clearance of 1.73m (5-8.5) and senior Claire Moreau finished tied for seventh with a height of 1.68m (5-6). For the men, Sam Hurley was the runner-up clearing 2.12m (5-11.5) for the second competition in a row.
The Longhorns return to Austin for its final regular season home meet when they host the Texas Invitational from April 28-29.
