AUSTIN, Texas – Texas Baseball's Lebarron Johnson Jr. has been named the Big 12 Conference Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
Johnson struck out a career-high 12 Kansas hitters over 7.0 innings, holding the Jayhawks to a single run in his start Saturday. The redshirt sophomore scattered four hits and did not allow an opposing hitter to reach via hit or walk over his last three innings of work.
The Jacksonville, Florida native held opponents to a .154 batting average as he ran his record to 5-2 on the year and collected his first weekly award.
Johnson is the second-straight Longhorn to be named Big 12 Pitcher of the Week, after Lucas Gordon received the honor last week.
The Longhorns return home to UFCU Disch-Falk Field for the final seven games of the regular season, beginning on Tuesday night against UT Arlington.
