Texas set to begin stretch of 10 home matches in 11 matchups with Sunday’s match against Rice
AUSTIN, Texas – For the first time in the 2023 season, The University of Texas women's soccer program will play in front of its home fans when the No. 15 Longhorns square off against Rice at Mike A. Myers Stadium on Sunday, Aug. 20 at 2 p.m.
The match will be available to watch on the Longhorn Network and stream on the ESPN app.
KICKING OFF
- Following a pair of assists in Texas' one-goal win at Long Beach State on Thursday, Aug. 17, junior midfielder Lexi Missimo is now just one assist shy of tying Kati McBain (2000-03) for second on the program's career assist list entering Sunday afternoon's match.

- With her two assists thus far this season, Lexi Missimo is on her way to becoming the first student-athlete in program history to lead the team in assist in three consecutive seasons.
- Last season, Missimo became just the third student-athlete in program history to pace the team in assists in back-to-back campaigns.
- The Southlake native was, however, the first and remains the only student-athlete in program history to accomplish the feat with back-to-back double-digit assist seasons.

- Texas will enter Sunday afternoon's match with a 198-66-25 (.728) all-time record in home matches dating back to the 1994 season.
- Of that record, the Longhorns are 174-54-23 (.739) in matches at Mike A. Myers Stadium and Soccer Field since 1999.
- Head coach Angela Kelly's program will take on Rice with a 10-match unbeaten streak in matches played at home, dating back to a 3-2 win against Florida on Sunday, Aug. 28, 2022.
- The last time the Longhorns lost at home was a 2-0 outcome against then-No. 1 UNC on Thursday, Aug. 25, 2022.
- The longest home unbeaten streak, including ties, in program history is 21 in a row from Aug. 31, 2007 to Oct. 31, 2008.
- The Longhorns are 5-1-1 all time against Rice, including a perfect 4-0-0 mark in matches played in Austin, Texas.
- A double overtime 1-1 tie in Houston on Sept. 5, 2021 was the last result when the two teams last met.
- The last time Texas beat Rice in Austin — a 2-1 decision on Friday, Aug. 18, 2017 — the Longhorns went on to play in the third round of the NCAA Tournament that season and finished with a 14-4-3 record, including a 10-1-1 mark at home.
- Angela Kelly is 3-0-1 all time against Rice as the head coach of the Texas Longhorns.
- Since taking over at the helm of the Texas women's soccer program prior to the 2012 season, head coach Angela Kelly is 6-4-1 in home-opening matches.
- The upcoming stretch of seven straight home matches for Texas is the longest such streak for the Longhorn program since having a stretch of seven from Aug. 30, 2018 to Sept. 21, 2018.
- Texas went 6-0-0 during that stretch with wins over Long Beach State (2-1), Stephen F. Austin (5-0), Texas State (2-1), Houston Baptist (4-0), UTRGV (2-1), Northern Colorado (3-0) and Baylor (2-1, OT).
