Women’s Tennis preview: NC State Ranked Spotlight/USTA Intercollegiate Championship

The Longhorns will be coast to coast with a total of six players participating in two tournaments in Cary, N.C., and San Diego, Calif., from Sept. 21-24.
Austin – Texas Women's Tennis will have a total of six players participating in tournament play from Sept. 21-24 with four competing in the Wolfpack Invitational/Ranked Spotlight in Cary, N.C., and two others in the USTA Intercollegiate Championships in San Diego, Calif.
Senior No. 74 Charlotte Chavatipon, senior Taisiya Pachkaleva, sophomore Nicole Rivkin and graduate No. 18 Tanya Sasnouskaya will represent the Longhorns at the Wolfpack Invitational/Ranked Spotlight, while sophomore Vivian Ovrootsky and senior No. 99 Malaika Rapolu will be at the USTA Intercollegiate Championships.
The tournament in North Carolina will last four days (Thursday-Sunday), with Thursday's doubles matches set to be played on NC State's campus, and the remaining matches scheduled to occur at Cary Tennis Park. Texas is one of the 17 teams set to compete alongside Arizona State, Auburn, Duke, Georgia Tech, Miami, Michigan, North Carolina, NC State, Ohio State, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas A&M, UCF, USC and Virginia.
The format will consist of two singles draws (with backdraws), and doubles will be played in a four-pod format. Thursday will consist of two doubles matches, while Friday and Saturday will each have two singles matches. Play will then conclude on Sunday with one singles match and one doubles match.
More information on both the schedule and draws of the USTA Intercollegiate Championships will be released at a later time and updated here when available.
