Men’s Tennis earns six wins to open Longhorn Invitational

The Longhorns claimed five singles victories and another in doubles against players from USC.
Austin – Texas Men's Tennis picked up six wins to begin play at the Longhorn Invitational in Austin, including five singles victories and one in doubles against players from USC.
The doubles win was by the Braswell brothers with senior Micah and sophomore Jonah defeating Niroop Vallabhaneni and Lodewijk Westrate, 8-6, while the No. 9 pair of senior Siem Woldeab and junior Pierre-Yves Bailly dropped their match to Wojtek Marek and Samuel Rubell, 8-5, and the duo of senior Evin McDonald and freshman Lucas Brown fell to Karl Lee and Peter Makk, 8-4.
The Longhorns then won five of their seven singles matches against the Trojans. No. 17 Micah Braswell defeated No. 22 Makk, 6-0, 6-2. No. 16 Bailly topped No. 63 Marek after a convincing third set, 6-2, 5-7, 6-0, and No. 45 Jonah Braswell downed Westrate in three sets, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4. Brown beating Vallabhaneni 6-2, 6-2, and Talluri defeating Andrei Volgin, 6-3, 6-4.
Saturday's action will begin at 10 a.m. CT with Texas players facing off against members of Georgia.
