Men’s Tennis concludes Longhorn Invitational with five wins

The Longhorns collected three ranked singles wins and two doubles victories on Sunday at the Texas Tennis Center.
Austin – The Longhorn Invitational concluded Sunday at the Texas Tennis Center with members of the Texas Men's Tennis team winning five out of their eight matches against players from Florida State and Arizona.
The Horns picked up three ranked victories on the day, all in straight sets. Senior No. 28 Siem Woldeab defeated No. 50 Gustaf Strom of Arizona 6-1, 6-3, while senior Cleeve Harper downed No. 112 Loris Pourroy of Florida State by the same score. Senior Evin McDonald then completed the trio of wins by topping No. 102 Jamie Connel of Florida State 7-6 (2), 6-4. In the other two singles matches, freshman Lucas Brown fell to Arizona's Nick Lagaev 6-3, 6-1, and senior Eshan Talluri was downed by Arizona's Casper Christensen 6-3, 6-3.
In doubles, the Horns won two of their three matches with the nation's No. 1 duo of seniors Harper and Eliot Spizzirri beating FSU's Pourroy and Youcef Rihane, 8-3. The other win was captured by the pair of Woldeab and Talluri over Arizona's Casper Christensen and Gustaf Strom, 8-1. Brown and McDonald fell to Arizona's tandem of Nick Lagaev and Sasha Rozin, 8-6.
Next up, a pair of Longhorns in senior Micah Braswell and junior Pierre-Yves Bailly will take the court for the Albuquerque Futures in New Mexico from Sept. 26-Oct. 1.
