MANHATTAN, Kan. — Madison Booker led Texas with 23 points, but the Texas women's basketball team dropped a 61-58 game on the road at Kansas State on Saturday.
The Wildcats got out to a 7-0 lead, but the Longhorns rallied with an 8-0 run to take an 8-7 lead at the 4:24 mark of the first quarter. Aaliyah Moore scored seven points in the opening quarter and Texas led 18-16.
The Longhorns (16-2, 3-2) led 31-30 at halftime and increased that lead to six at 45-39 with 3:32 to play in the third period. Kansas State ended the half on a 7-0 run and took a 46-45 lead going into the fourth quarter.
Texas trailed by seven at 57-50 with 3:40 to play, but narrowed the gap to three on back-to-back buckets by Booker and Amina Muhammad. The Wildcats scored to increase their lead to 59-54 and again at 61-56, before Booker cut it back to three at 61-58.
Texas had a chance to cut into the deficit with 15 seconds left, but missed on a 3-pointer.
Up next Texas will host Kansas on Tuesday, Jan. 16, at Moody Center.

• The Longhorns drop to 16-2 overall and 3-2 in Big 12 play.
• Madison Booker led the Longhorns with 23 points.
• Booker is the only freshman in the country with three games of 20+ points against ranked opponents. Booker tallied 20 points against No. 11 UConn and 25 points against No. 10 Baylor.
• Aaliyah Moore scored 15 points on 5-of-10 from the field and 5-of-5 from the free-throw line.
• Texas shot 12-of-14 (85.7 percent) from the free-throw line. Booker (7-7) and Moore (5-5) were perfect at the free-throw line.
• Texas forced 18 Kansas State turnovers in the game.
• The contest between Texas and Kansas State had 11 ties and 12 lead changes. Texas led for 16:20 and Kansas State led for 18:44 of game time.
