Women’s Basketball ranked No. 4 in AP preseason poll

The Longhorns open the 2024-25 season on Nov. 10 at home against Southeast Missouri State.
AUSTIN, Texas — The University of Texas Women's Basketball team is ranked No. 4 in the Associated Press' Preseason Top 25, the wire service announced Tuesday.
UT has made 41 appearances in school history out of a total of 48 AP preseason polls. This is the 13th time the Longhorns have been ranked in the top-five in the AP preseason poll. The most recent time they were ranked top-five was the 2022-23 season when they were ranked No. 3.
Seven SEC teams were ranked in the AP preseason poll. South Carolina (1), Texas (4), LSU (7), Oklahoma (10), Ole Miss (20), Kentucky (22) and Alabama (24).
Texas finished the 2023-24 season with a 33-5 record and advanced to the Elite Eight for the third time in the last four seasons. The Longhorns captured the 2024 Big 12 Tournament Championship and have won a conference regular season or tournament championship in each of the last three seasons.
Texas opens the season at home against Southeast Missouri State on Nov. 10 at Moody Center with a 2:00 p.m. CT tip. The game will be streamed by SEC Network+.
