Men’s Tennis puts three into semifinals of ITA Texas Regionals

Junior Jonah Braswell and freshman Timo Legout advanced in singles, along with Legout and sophomore Lucas Brown in doubles.
Waco, Texas – Texas Men's Tennis put two singles players and one doubles pair into the semifinals of the ITA Texas Regional Championships on Sunday at the Hurd Tennis Center in Waco.
Junior No. 29 Jonah Braswell and freshman Timo Legout advanced in singles, while the duo of Legout and sophomore Lucas Brown did so in doubles.
In singles, Braswell defeated 5 seed #61 Devin Badenhorst of Baylor, 6-2, 6-2, and Legout topped 9-16 seed Marko Miladinovic, also of Baylor, 6-0, 6-3. They will next play on Monday at 12 p.m. CT with Braswell facing the top seed #17 JC Roddick of Texas A&M, and Legout taking on 4 seed #49 Zsombor Velcz of Baylor. Velcz reached the semifinals by downing #124 Brown, 6-3, 6-3.
In doubles, two Longhorn pairs played two matches on Sunday. The 4 seed of Legout and Brown won a tiebreaker over Petro Kuzmenok and Santiago Navarro of Rice, 8-7 (4), in the round of 16 before defeating 9-16 seed Louis Bowden and Quintan Van Wijk of Baylor, 8-4, in the quarterfinals. Braswell and freshman Evan Burnett then earned an 8-5 win over Emir Sendogan and Joshua Mandelbaum of Rice in the round of 16 before falling to 3 seed Arthus de la Bassetiere and Kabeer Kapasi, also of Rice, by the same score in the quarterfinals.
Legout and Brown will next face 9-16 seed Tiago Torres and Miguel Alonso of UTSA at 10 a.m. CT on Monday.
The Longhorns also played three "extra matches on Sunday. Freshman Calvin Wang defeated Grant Lothringer of Texas A&M, 6-2, 2-6, 1-0 (6), while freshman Evan Burnett fell to Ritesh Patil of Texas A&M, 6-4, 6-3, and freshman Rahal Sachdev dropped a superbreaker to Justin Braverman of Baylor, 7-6 (4), 5-7, 1-0 (10).
