O'Keefe SEC Golfer of the Week: Following her T3 performance at the Stanford Intercollegiate, sophomore Farah O'Keefe was selected the SEC women's golfer of the week. O'Keefe shot a 7-under 64 in the final round to help Texas to a third place finish.
Stanford Intercollegiate: Last time out the Longhorns finished in third place at the Stanford Intercollegiate. In the final round of the tournament the Longhorns tied their program record for lowest 18-hole score with a 12-under 272. Farah O'Keefe finished T3 on the individual leaderboard. O'Keefe carded a 7-under 64 in the final round, which tied the program record for individual lowest 18-hole score.
NB3 Match Play Champions: Texas won their second straight event by capturing the women's NB3 Match Play Championship at Twin Warriors Golf Club in Santa Ana Pueblo, New Mexico. All five players captured two match play wins. Texas beat New Mexico State 4.5-0.5 and New Mexico 5-0. Against No. 1 Stanford, the Cardinal won 3-2. The Longhorns also teamed up with the Texas men's golf team to win the combined university championship. Lauren Kim posted a record of 2-0-1 with 15 birdies and two eagles in her three matches.
The Win in Tennessee: The Texas women's golf team won their tournament at the Mason Rudolph Championship in Franklin, Tenn. The Longhorns shot 31-under par, their third best 54-hole score in program history for a six-shot victory. Sophomores Farah O'Keefe and Lauren Kim each finished T3 on the individual leaderboard at 11-under. That 11-under 205 is tied for the fourth best 54-hole individual round in program history. On the final day Kim birdied her final three holes to shoot 6-under 66 and tied for the seventh best individual 18-hole round in program history.
Lauren Kim & Farah O'Keefe on ANNIKA Award Watch List: Kim and O'Keefe earned spots on the ANNIKA Award Watch List, which goes to the top player in women's collegiate golf. O'Keefe earned All-America honors from the Women's Golf Coaches Association and Golfweek in her freshman season. She was the Big 12 Player and Freshman of the Year as well. Kim earned All-America honorable mention honors in 2023-24 and was a unanimous selection to the All-Big 12 Team.
2023-24 in Review: The Longhorns advanced to the NCAA Championship for the eighth straight season and 32nd overall appearance in 2024 and finished T11. Texas earned their fifth conference championship in the last seven seasons.
Farah O'Keefe earned All-America honors from the Women's Golf Coaches Association and Golfweek in her freshman season. O'Keefe, the Big 12 Player and Freshman of the Year, had four top-five finishes in collegiate events in the 2023-24 season and had a scoring average of 71.1. She carded rounds of par or better in 20 of her 28 stroke play rounds and had a 3-0 record in match play. At the NCAA Champion at Omni La Costa, O'Keefe carded a round of 6-under 66 in her second round to tie the UT women's golf program record for low round in an NCAA Championship. Over the summer O'Keefe was part of Team USA for the Palmer Cup and won the Western Amateur.
Lauren Kim earned All-America honorable mention honors in the 2023-24 season and was a unanimous selection to the All-Big 12 Team. Kim shot 15 rounds at par or better this season and had an adjusted stroke average of 70.5. Kim was the individual medalist at the Jackson T Stephens Cup and finished T3 at the Big 12 Championship. Kim qualified and played in the 2022 and 2023 U.S. Open and was the 2023 Canadian Women's Amateur Champion. Kim competed at the 2024 Augusta National Women's Amateur. Kim won the Peloton Glencoe Invitational over the summer.
