Trio from No. 4 Women's Basketball named to Naismith Trophy Women’s College Player of the Year Watch List

Harmon, Booker and Phelia named to watch list for player of the year award.
AUSTIN, Texas — Texas women's basketball's Rori Harmon, Madison Booker and Laila Phelia have been named to the 2024-25 Jersey Mike's Naismith Trophy Women's College Player of the Year Watch List presented by AXIA, the Naismith Awards announced on Monday.
Madison Booker, who was voted Preseason Player of the Year in the SEC by the leagues coaches, is coming off a freshman season in which she earned WBCA First Team All-America honors and was selected the Cheryl Miller Small Forward of the Year.
Rori Harmon, who was injured 12 games into the 2023-24 season is back and was selected to the Preseason All-SEC Second Team by the media and coaches. In 12 games last season Harmon tallied 93 assists and 14 turnovers and was leading the country in assist to turnover ratio. Harmon earned All-America honorable mention honors and was the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year in the 2022-23 season.
Laila Phelia enters her first season with the Longhorns. Phelia spent three years at Michigan and was a First Team All-Big Ten selection in the 2023-24 season. Phelia has recorded 1,243 points in her collegiate career and scored in double figures in 29 games last year.
The Longhorns host UT-Tyler in an exhibition game on Thursday, Oct. 31 at 7:00 p.m. CT and open the season Sunday Nov. 10 as they host Southeast Missouri State at 2:00 p.m. CT at Moody Center.
