The Longhorns forced a pair of turnovers and held the Razorbacks to just 10 points.
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – No. 3/3/3 Texas Football put together another strong defensive effort and took down Arkansas, 20-10, on Saturday at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium.
The Longhorn defense forced two turnovers, on a Jahdae Barron interception and a fumble forced by Alfred Collins and recovered by Michael Taaffe. Texas has forced a turnover in all 10 games this season and in 18-straight games overall. Taaffe was the leading tackler with eight total stops, while Barron had seven total tackles.
Quinn Ewers was 20-of-32 pasing for 176 yards and two touchdown passes to Matthew Golden. Ewers now has 21-consecutive games with a passing touchdown, the second-longest streak in program history.
Golden, who caught two passes in the game and both were touchdowns, has caught a touchdown reception in three-consecutive games.
Jaydon Blue was the leading rusher with 14 carries for 83 yards, while Quintrevion Wisner carried the ball 17 times for 59 yards.
After a couple of punts to start the game, Barron gave the Longhorns a spark with an interception on the Razorbacks' second possession. Texas took full advantage of the takeaway and put together a six-play, 61-yard drive that was capped off by a 20-yard touchdown pass from Ewers to Golden.
On the final play of the first quarter, the Razorbacks had an eight-yard punt that set up the Longhorns with great field position. Despite the great starting point, Texas was forced to settle for a 39-yard field goal by Bert Auburn.
Auburn kicked another field goal in the third quarter, a 33-yarder to extend the lead to 13-0.
Arkansas scored the next 10 points, with a touchdown and field goal to cut the Longhorns lead to 13-10 going into the fourth quarter.
Texas had a great response to open the fourth quarter, driving down the field and grabbing a 20-10 lead on Golden's second touchdown reception of the day.
With Arkansas driving in the fourth quarter, Collins and Taaffe combined for a game-clinching turnover. The Longhorns were then able to run out the final 6:55 off the clock to secure the win.
