BUDAPEST – Luke Hobson of the No. 1 Texas Men's Swim and Dive program broke his own world record in the 200 freestyle on the final day of the 2024 Short Course World Championships.
Hobson set the world record in the 200 free on Friday with a time of 1:38.91 as part of the 4x200 free gold medal winning team. He outdid himself just two days later after he won his first individual title at a World Championship meet with his time of 1:38.61.
The All-American left the meet with three world records – the 200 free, 4x100 free and 4x200 free relays for Team USA.
Junior Hubert Kos won the 200 backstroke in front of a home crowd with a time 1:45.65. The Hungarian's time marked a Championship and European Record and was just .02 seconds off the world record.
Chris Guiliano later added a fourth-place finish in the 50 freestyle with a time of 20.78 for Team USA.
Meanwhile in Bloomington at the USA Diving Winter Nationals, sophomore Tanner Braunton finished seventh on the 10-meter platform after scoring 738.10 points.
