AUSTIN, TEXAS – Texas Athletics is proud to announce Texas Country legend Pat Green will headline Longhorn City Limits presented by Still Austin Whiskey Co. on Saturday, December 21 prior to Texas Football's College Football Playoff First Round game versus Clemson at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium. Located on the LBJ Lawn, Austin-based quartet Sour Bridges will hit the stage prior to Pat Green. Admission for Longhorn City Limits is FREE for all fans!
Born in San Antonio, Pat Green has firmly established himself as a Texas legend with his evocative blend of traditional and modern country music. His debut album, 1995's Dancehall Dreamer, marked the beginning of a celebrated journey that would deeply embed him in the fabric of Texas music culture. Green's influence in Texas country music is underscored by a career that spans nearly three decades, with albums like Three Days and the gold-certified Wave on Wave capturing the essence of Texas life and propelling him to national acclaim. These albums have not only brought critical acclaim but also resonated broadly, leading to three Grammy nominations and a consistent presence on the Billboard country charts.
Green now sits with over 2 million albums sold and over 200 million career streams. Known for his profound Texas pride, Green's songs often explore themes deeply rooted in Texas culture, reflecting his own experiences and the lives of those around him. His 13 #1's at Texas Radio, collaborations with fellow Texan artists, including Lyle Lovett and Willie Nelson, and selling out the Houston Astrodome have further solidified his legacy as a cornerstone of Texas music.
Sour Bridges will kick off a fantastic day of live music on the LBJ Lawn at 11:30 a.m. Formed in 2010, their genesis actually starts in the Pocono Mountains of northeastern Pennsylvania. That's where Long Island-born Pucci and his brother, Matt (lead guitar, mandolin, vocals), were raised and taught themselves to play music. After moving to Austin in 2007, they immediately found a community of like-minded talents eventually leading to their current incarnation which includes Will Vaughan on bass and vocals and Marc Randal Henry on drums and percussion. Sour Bridges have built a reputation for their propulsive live performances and have shared the stage with Band of Horses, Asleep At The Wheel, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Jason Boland And the Stragglers and many more.
"Longhorn City Limits will be rocking as part of a historic day on the Forty Acres," said Chris Del Conte, Vice President and Folger Family Athletics Director. "We are so excited to welcome Pat Green back to the LBJ Lawn and can't wait to have Longhorn Nation celebrate this first-ever on-campus playoff game with us with a spectacular lineup and experience at LCL."
Sour Bridges will hit the stage at 11:30 a.m. followed by Pat Green at approximately 1 p.m.
