Texas becomes one of three programs to have a MAC Hermann Trophy Semifinalist for third straight season
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – On Wednesday afternoon, the United Soccer Coaches organization and the Missouri Athletic Club (MAC) announced The University of Texas women's soccer student-athlete Lexi Missimo was named among the 19 semifinalists for the 2024 Women's MAC Hermann Trophy. Missimo is one of three – Florida State's Jordynn Dudley and UCLA's Lilly Reale – returning semifinalists from last season's 15-member semifinalist list.
Missimo, a United Soccer Coaches All-Southeast First Team selection earlier this week, was the only women's soccer student-athlete in the Southeastern Conference (SEC) to score 10-or-more goals (12) and be credited with 10-or-more assists (13) this season. It marks the second consecutive season that the Southlake, Texas native has recorded a double figure goal and assist season after having 26 goals and 20 assists throughout the 2023 campaign. She was also selected to the SEC All-Tournament team and was an All-SEC First Team Midfielder.
Over the course of Texas' 23-match season, Missimo played 99.3 percent (2,077) of 2,092 possible minutes, including every minute of the last 21 consecutive matches. She was credited with at least one point in 20 of the Longhorns' 23 matches as well as nine of UT's 10 regular season SEC matches. Of Texas' six postseason matches, Missimo had at least one point in five contests. She recorded multiple points in 13 different matches as well as tying a program record with at least one point in nine consecutive matches.
Missimo finished the season tied for first in the SEC in assists (13), second in total points (37), second in points per match (1.61), second in assists per match (0.57) and tied for fourth in goals scored (12). Her 13 assists were tied for second most in all of Division I women's soccer, while her 0.57 assists per match total was the 10th-highest average and her 37 total points were the 12th most in the country.
The MAC Hermman Trophy is the most coveted individual honor in NCAA Division I soccer and has been awarded annually since 1967. Three women's finalist will be named for the award on Wednesday, Dec. 11. The 2024 MAC Hermann Trophy banquet will be held at the historic Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis on Jan. 3, 2025, to formally announce this year's winner.
