HOUSTON — The Texas women's basketball team outscored Houston 21-9 in the second quarter and pulled away for an 82-66 victory on the road on Wednesday.
Madison Booker led Texas with 23 points on 9-of-13 shooting, her eighth game of the season scoring at least 20 points. Booker added seven rebounds, four assists and a steal.
A native of Pearland, Texas, DeYona Gaston scored a season-high 21 points on 9-of-15 from the field. Aaliyah Moore also scored in double figures with 12 points.
Texas (23-3, 10-3) ended the first half on a 19-2 run and led 39-24 at the half. The Longhorns outscored Houston 21-9 in the second quarter. Texas held Houston without a field goal for six minutes and three seconds in the second quarter.
Shay Holle played the entire 40 minutes for the seventh time this season and scored eight points and added two rebounds, two steals and one assist. Shaylee Gonzales dished out four assists, scored five points and grabbed two rebounds.
Up next Texas will host Iowa State on Saturday, Feb. 17 at Moody Center. Tip time is set for 3:00 p.m. CT for the broadcast on ESPN2.

• Texas improves to 23-3 overall and 10-3 in the Big 12. The Longhorns are tied for second place in the current Big 12 standings.
• The Longhorns double digit victory marked the 22nd time in their 23 wins that they have won by double digits.
• Texas shot 33-of-59 (55.9 percent), which marked the 13th game this season the Longhorns have shot 50 percent or better. For the season the Longhorns are shooting 50 percent from the field.
• In the fourth quarter the Longhorns shot 8-of-12 from the field.
• Texas outscored Houston 54-22 in points in the paint.
• The Longhorns got 30 points from their bench players as 21 came from Gaston in 24:34 of playing time.
• Texas outrebounded Houston 42-24 and grabbed 16 offensive rebound, which they converted into 19 second chance points.
• Madison Booker moved into sixth place on the Longhorns all-time freshman assist list. Booker now has 115 assists for the season. That record is held by Rori Harmon with 180.
• Booker scored in double figures for the 21st time this season and has scored in double figures in 15 straight games.
• Booker drew seven fouls on Houston and leads the Longhorns in fouls drawn on the season with 79.
• The nine points Texas held Houston to in the second quarter marked the 22nd time this season the Longhorns have held an opponent to single digits for a quarter.
